Was not able to get to the gym in time to swim before spin class, but I did complete the 60-minute session with Renee' and then immediately hopped on the treadmill for a 5K to complete at least the last two legs of a faux sprint tri in the gym. And strangely enough, I felt completely energized at the end of the 90 minute workout. I don't know why. I didn't have any of the typical hip flexor soreness I usually have after harder leg-based workouts. I even had a bit of a spring in my step after showering and heading back to the office.
I tried to identify what it might have been that gave me that extra pep. I certainly wasn't a good night's sleep since I stayed up late watching Mulholland Dr. It could be that I timed my protein/carb snack just right and the fuel kicked in. Or maybe I stayed better hydrated than I usually do. I certainly did sweat a lot. I was completely drenched after, as if I had been dropped in the pool. But though the workout was hard, I wasn't spent.
Who knows? The body seems to decide on its own sometimes how much it's going to give you. It's certainly an unpredictable machine.
I thought I'd missed the last bootcamp session on Monday after oversleeping, but turns out a make up session was scheduled for Wednesday, so I'm going to knock that out tomorrow. I don't like having to get up at 5 to get to work by 6, but I am going to miss the workouts. They're hard, but a great way to jump start the day.
