The alarm went off at 5AM, and I spent 10 minutes afterward having a drowsy internal struggle over whether or not to get up and out the door to make the 6AM boot camp start. I came oh-so close to opting for an extra hour of sleep.
But I didn't. I prodded myself out of bed, collected my things, fed the pets and woke up Quin to say goodbye. It was tight, but I got to work in less than 30 minutes and arrived just in time for warmups.
So glad I did, because even though getting going is hard and uncomfortable, being done an hour later is such a great way to jump start the day. It's over 4 hours later now and I still feel juiced up.
Now, lunch time is coming up and I have on my chart an hour of running, either on the treadmill or through Bressi Ranch. Not sure what I'll do. I'll probably take the morning cue and run.
I have my first black toenail. I'd read about distance runners losing nails, but I've been thankfully free of that malady. Blisters too. Just don't get them much if at all. But the "index" toe on the left foot is black/purple under the nail, and I anticipate I'll lose the nail eventually. It happened as a result of the marathon. I noticed it a few days after the race. Not sure why. My shoes had never given me problems. I figure it may have just been the added distance.
