Hi, John :->

Okay...okay.  I say I publish these entries for myself, but it's nice to know someone else is reading occasionally.

I was really sore today.  Yesterday's boot camp workout was leg-intensive, including a set of 100m sprints.  I haven't done full-on sprints since...I don't know.  High school?

I also did what was supposed to be a moderate-to-light 5-miler in the afternoon, but it was anything but moderate-to-light.  I had a really tough time getting through miles 4 and 5.  I attributed the difficulty to the morning workout, and it really manifested itself today with 'delayed onset muscle-soreness,' mainly in the quads.

I have not worked out today.  Spin and/or swim is on the planned schedule, but since I took Quin to Knott's Berry Farm, there was no time for that.  I may run a short 3-mile loop through the neighborhood tonight, but it depends on how I feel later.  I've got another early morning wake-up tomorrow and I'd like to be fresh for the boot camp session.

I keep saying I want to start working on my 5K/10K speed, but I've yet to really find myself ready to do that.  I may be trying to bite off more than I can chew.  I want to swim, cycle, keep my distance mileage base intact, get faster at shorter distances, and work on full body strength at the same time.  That's demanding more time than I realistically have time for, and probably more energy that I realistically have at my age.

I feel like I'm eating like Michael Phelps.  During the post-marathon recovery period when I scaled back my workouts temporarily, I gained about 3 lbs. That's my first significant weight gain since I turned my ankle last September.  I continue to eat like I'm marathon training.  I've got to watch that.
