Whoops. Guess I Needed More Rest than I Thought

After marveling at how little rest and recuperation I thought I needed after last Sunday's half marathon, I recognized I was feeling fatigued yesterday afternoon.  I did a varied-pace 60 minute run yesterday that I thought would be relatively moderate, but afterwards I was feeling definitely tired and even a little sore.

Since Sunday, I've run three times, taking a rest on Wednesday only because I told myself I ought to and not because I felt like I needed it.  Now, I'm glad I did because I guess I needed it afterall.

I'm not intending to start upping the distance on my weekend long runs until next weekend.  This weekend, I plan on just doing an unstructured, easy paced run to explore for routes that will get me from 4S Ranch to Del Dios Hwy.  I've looked at the satellite maps on Bing, Google and Yahoo as well as searched for Web pages that might describe hiking or bike trails through the hills around the Crosby Estates.  If I can find a route through there, I'll have a good 17-18 mile circuit around Lake Hodges that'll be a good run for when my training program calls for a run of that distance.

I'm also taking Quin to the Farmer's Insurance Open at Torrey Pines.  It's the first tournament of the PGA season.  No Tiger Woods, but the weather's supposed to be nice.  Quin likes the pageantry and spectacle even if there is no celebrity he knows.  I'll try to acquaint him with Phil Mickelson and Rocco Mediate.
