No run. No swim. No bike. No gym.
Just spent the bulk of the day cleaning, sweeping, vacuuming, mowing, raking, edging, digging, moving furniture, hauling yard waste...
Once upon a time, those kind of chores were "working out." Nowadays, we go to the gym and move weights or run in place or otherwise generate energy that is turned into friction and wasted heat, lost to the entropic universe through non-functional work.
You know, I wonder if there's a business model in which a gym could hook up battery chargers to elliptical machines and stationary bicycles, in order to get something useful out of all the energy we expend to burn extra calories and exercise our heart and lungs. Wouldn't it be cool to recapture some of that energy rather than have it just dissipate as heat? I think I'll work on a business plan.
I feel rested and ready for tomorrow's "long" run. I'm only planning on 10 miles, which hardly seems like a long run. But that's what the schedule calls for and so that's what I'll do. I plan on trying very hard to run at a 9:00 pace, which would have me finishing up in 90 minutes. I'll run for 90 even if I finish up 10 a little sooner.
Strange, but I think my most efficient pace is around 8:00-8:20 during a run of that length. Slower is actually harder and wears me down more. I don't know why. I'm anxious to see if the slower pace brings on the calf strain at around 45 minutes. That's where it's surfaced before, though I haven't had a problem lately.
Quin and I are going to hit up Kobey's again tomorrow. And then I'll get back to the honey-do list, with the first order of business being to re-caulk and seal the shower so that Joan can use it again.
Will the Chargers be on tomorrow?
