Mini Reverse Tri and Thoughts on Training Routine

Faux gym-based sprint triathlon today:

* Ran 5K in 23 minutes.
* Jumped into the spin class for 40 minutes.
* Swam a short 150 yards in 2:10

Total mini- reverse triathlon took 1 hr and 8 minutes.  (About 3 minutes total "transition" time.)  It was fun.  It's the same lineup as the Tinsel Triathlon in Hemet in December that Kelly and Robert are going to do.  But the Tinsel is also the same weekend Dad's going to be here, but if I can swing the schedule, I want to do it.  Today's "practice" convinced me I can do it without a ton of preparation.  I just need to find a bike.

I've gone the entire week without any communication with Michael or Clarence.  I don't understand.  I'm not going to bug him constantly for my schedule, but maybe he just has too many runners to track and train.

I think I need to start developing a weekly routine, and unless Michael objects, I'm leaning toward:
Monday: Easy Run; upper body strength training
Tuesday: No Run; spin studio
Wednesday: Speed play (intervals, repeats, Fartlek, etc.); upper body strength training
Thursday: Easy Run; spin studio
Friday: Tempo or Pace work; leg and core strength training
Saturday: No Run
Sunday: Long Run or Race

Obviously, I'll flex if need be, but I've been trying to figure out how to work the cross training into the equation as my running demands increase.  I did some leg strength work a couple of weeks ago before trying a longer run the next day, and I felt wiped out.  I want to be more rational in how I put the pieces together.

I'll probably go over this with Mike some time this weekend.
