Today's a rest day from running for the legs, so I squeezed in a swim late in the day before the end of work. Time was tight due to a late afternoon problem with some contract billing. I literally ran over to the gym, changed like I was in a race, completed the workout without delay, showered and sprinted back to the office.
It was only a 30 minute session. I didn't have time for any strength training.
I did 500 yards free in 8:14. And then went right into another 500 with the buoy, finishing in 8:30. I did some stroke counting, trying to stay under 20 strokes per length. For the final set, I did 5 x 100 in 1:45 intervals instead of 10 x 50 in 1:00 intervals. When I do the 50s, I'm typical done with the sprint in 40 seconds and have 20 seconds for recovery. With the 100s, I was touching the wall at 1:25, while leaving the same 20 seconds for recovery. The change up in interval length was good and hard. I would have liked to have tried to complete 10 x 100. Maybe next time.
