Hi, Bethany. I just noticed I had an official "follower." I'm aware that John "FreedomStar" keeps tabs on me.
Thanks for caring, you two. I'm never sure who I'm writing for: myself or some supposed audience. I try not to let it change what or how I post, knowing that you -- and maybe a couple of other SP denizens -- are reading my tortured stream-of-consciousness thoughts about my fitness journey on the road to...gulp...50.
Just a heads up. I can't seem to set this up to be interactive. John has left some comments, which I can see in my user dashboard, but for some reason, comments and feedback don't appear for me. So I just stick to SparkPeople for the dialogue and friend interaction.
As I'm detailing on SparkPeople, this is the first week of a dedicated period of trying to get just a little bit leaner. I'm 3 days into the first week, and yesterday was kind of a big calorie-deficit day. I'm feeling a little bit run down today. I like to try to get at least one spin class session in a week. I'm partial to one particular instructor at my gym, Pure Fitness. She runs two sessions each week: Tuesdays and Thursdays at noon, so if I'm going to spin, it's going to be at one or both of those classes. Today's Thursday, so I'll be shooting for the noon spin class. I also intend to get a short 3-4 mile run in. I haven't decided yet if I'll just run it easy on the tail end of spin, or if I'll do it as a separate workout session later and try to run it for time. Probably the former since I don't think I'm at peak condition today to put in a best-effort.
It's good to see both you of running again. John; it looks like you're really back into it full bore. Rest up for your long run this weekend. I love those long run outings. And Beejay...I'm really hoping the shin splints don't plague you, though I find it hard to be too sympathetic, what with your new bike and GPS toys.
