Tapering Up

Rejoined the spin class today. Okay...so I dogged it a little. I was just not up to maxing out the effort. I still got a decent calorie burn and a drenching sweat going. I just didn't spend as much time above my anaerobic threshold.  After last weeks "taper," I'm ready to begin ramping back up and getting back to my previous exercise levels.

I wasn't nearly as sore today as I was yesterday.  But I'm still going to take it easy on the legs and opt for non-running workouts until the weekend.  (Sometimes I'm not sure which I like better: working out or planning the workout schedule.)

A little later this evening, I'll be doing the pushup-situp-chinup tests to gauge whether I move on to Week 4 or repeat Week 3.  I'm really curious to see how many chinups I can do.  I've never been able to do more than 12 or 13.  I really think I can do a couple more than that now.  I'm excited at the prospect of being able to do 25, which is where the training program is leading.

Just for some narcissistic fun, I created this photo strip to recount my distance races on the "Run to 50."  It doesn't include the 4th of July 10K, and I'm not keen on posting my marathon time. I feel like the AFC time deserves an asterisk too since the cut back in performance after La Jolla was intentional.

I don't particularly like all of these photos, but beggars (and thieves) can't be choosers.
