August Begins; Still Not Running

I'm relegated to finding workout strategies at home that don't involve running or otherwise stressing the calf muscles and Achilles tendon.  Without a gym or exercise equipment available on non-work days, that leaves few options for serious aerobic and anaerobic workouts if I can't run.  It's times like these that remind me how much I need to add a road bike to my arsenal. All my cycling has been stationary and indoors.  I need to get out on the road.  I'm going to start hawking Craigslist for a touring or tri bike...gotta be cheap though.

I keep talking about trying to sneak into LA Fitness that's here in the neighborhood, but I'm not a very good renegade.  I know from previous experience when I was a member that in the evenings, they'd sometimes turn the badge reader around and have customers swipe their own badge.  And sometimes there wouldn't even be anyone manning the desk.  It'd be so easy in that scenario to just use Joan's key fob passcard and swipe in.  The thing would beep and no one would realize that I was an interloper.  But I don't think I really have the nerve.  I might give it a try this evening.  They close at 8 on Sundays.  If I start scoping at around 6, I might be able to slip in an work the elliptical. 

One thing I don't need the gym for: the 100 push ups, 200 sit ups and 25 chin ups workout.  Quin's doing the push ups and sit ups with me. We have our 2nd day on the program scheduled for today. 

John (FreedomStar on SparkPeople) is running the Chicago Rock 'n Roll half marathon today...probably right now in fact since it's about 8:15 at this very moment.  I'm seriously jealous.

Im heading out to Chicago airport now. It was both Worst and Best experience will write about it on way back to Toronto
