I've been too busy to break away for the planned marathon-pace jog, not to mention (though I will) that my legs are awfully tired and stiff today. I know why, but I just wasn't expecting it given how good I felt after yesterday's workout and even well into the evening. But during the night, I could feel the twinges and knew I needed some recovery. Today, everything below the hips feels like it could use a rest.
It was a dilemma for me since tomorrow pretty much has to be a rest day in preparation for the jaunt to work Friday morning. So a day off today was not supposed to be a part of the plan, and I don't think I want to go two days without a token run at least.
I'm not going to change my mind about tomorrow. The inclination is going to be to go out just for a light run, like maybe 3 miles. But I know from experience that it will put me a little behind the power curve for the long run. So I'm going to stick to my guns and resist the urge.
So, what to do about today? The mileage plan was going to be for 7.5 miles in a little over an hour. My alternatives are: (1) to wait until the end of the workday to run the course, which will mean I'll be getting home late; (2) do a couple of laps around my usual 3-mile nighttime neighborhood loop, but Joan hates when I do that; or (3) don't run at all and maybe do something else just to release some energy and get a small calorie burn.
I don't know what to do.

Edit: the opportunity to run Lake Miramar came up when Bailey needed a ride to ballet. I took her, jogged from SPAC up to the Lake and then did a marathon paced run around the course, and walked back to stay loose. I was glad to get the miles in, and actually ran at a slightly quicker pace than marathon pace:
Mile 1: 8:00
Mile 2: 8:00
Mile 3: 8:10
Mile 4: 8:10
Mile 5: 7:10
Now I can make Thursday a rest day with confidence. The plan is still to run to work on Friday.
