Monday - Good day
Tuesday - Rough day
Today - Good day again.
I don't know what happened Tuesday. Maybe some of the weekend's bad diet (post Carlsbad 5000) was working it's way through my system and had to be purged. Whatever the reason, I felt like I was back up on the step today. After a good 1 mile warmup, I did six fast (for me) 440 intervals to work on form, and then closed out with a basic, no nonsense 5-mile run at a gradually increasing pace, starting at around 8:30/mile and finishing up just under 8/mile. Not hard, but not slack either. Not quite a tempo run. Just a base pace.
I decided to run longer and skip the weights. I've skipped strength training twice now, but I've rationalized that my running conditioning is more important at the moment. I'll put the weights back into the program next week during the cutback leading up to La Jolla.
It's tax day and I still haven't finished our return. I can't stand this time of year. I plan to leave work early and spend the few hours I need to complete it and get it filed. I can't wait until that's done and I can relax for a bit...watch a little Survivor and look forward to the weekend.
Bailey has her ballet performances and I'm gearing up for my 22-miler. I STILL haven't decided if I'm going to strike out alone on Saturday or join Christy and Michael on Sunday.
Still waiting on Carlsbad 5000 photos.
